Special Needs Respite, Inc, (SNR)  a 501c3 charity, was created in 2017 to address the growing need for respite care funding for parents of children with special needs in the metro Atlanta area.

 

State programs for such services have wait times in excess of 12 years, leaving so many parents who are already financially strained with few options. To make matters worse, the divorce rate is significantly higher in such families, putting additional strain on single-parent households. Self-care becomes an afterthought, with the result being emotional, physical, psychological, and financial stress.

 

Because of its local focus on metro Atlanta, SNR is able to offer funding that is more readily available, with a simple application process.  SNR relies on the donations of individuals through grassroots fundraising and events, as well as partnerships with local businesses and churches, to bring in funds to pay qualified caregivers for these families.

 

Our tagline is "Giving Families Hope," because when parents know they can get some kind of relief, even if it's just for one evening out, it brings hope to what is often a hopeless situation.
